Sorrow and Love

Tom sang a hymn called "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross" by Isaac Watts at the Good Friday Service at church today. He did a beautiful job, and I was deeply touched by these words.

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of Glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God;
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.

See, from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down.
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

AMEN.

Never did such love and sorrow meet... We (everyone of us who accepts the gift of salvation) were bought with a price. I'm ashamed to say I rarely think about that price; it's much too sad. The cost of my salvation, free to me, was pain and shame for God's son. A good and righteous God/Man endured suffering and laid down His life for my sin. That's an amazing kind of love. Thank you Jesus.

Love, Betsy

Betsy, I also enjoyed Tom's arrangement on the guitar and also appreciate the extra effort he put forth with the organizing the music for the Good Friday service. That is an amazing love that Christ has for us. I like your closeup on the crocuses. Happy Resurrection Day!

Betsy,
You and Tom are two very special people in our church.
I was really blessed by Tom's song in the Good Friday service...too.
God is surely using Tom in our church's music ministries to bring glory to the Lord.
