Nor'easter

It seems March and April got themselves mixed up this year. 80 degree temps and sunshine in March, 30's and snow in April. The TV weather report calls for 4 to 9 inches of snow today. The news shows pictures of wet heavy snow blanketing areas east of us...and it's coming our way. Crazy.

Moms, get the sleds out, find the snowsuits, dig for boots, and match up some mittens. As for me, I broke out my long johns a couple of days ago. Why be chilly?  I make light, but there are people without power, broken tree limbs, all manor of havoc....no laughing matter. Crazy.

TV sports shows a clip of Lakers' basketball player, World Peace, clobbering an opponent with his elbow? He cocked the guy in the head, sent him sprawling on the hardwood court. A flagrant foul. Concussion. Not cool. I winced at what looked like a criminal assault. Foul? Ya think? Crazy.

TV news reports violence on so many sides. Sexual misconduct and immoral behavior. TV shows entertain us with the same. Violent acts, sexual humor, dark drama.

The whole world's gone crazy. Politics, sports, education, government, religion, people, all prove over and over again that we live in a fallen world. We need saved from each other, saved from our enemies, saved from ourselves. We need healing and comfort from pain and emotional hurts, from misunderstandings and untruths. It's like the tower of Babel...we may speak the same language, but we sure don't understand one another. Sheesh. Crazy.

And the crazy weather...is it a sign of the times? Who knows? But I'll tell you this, I'm not asking for a sign. I just hope I don't miss it if God sends one.

And the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and to test him they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. He answered them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ And in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.(from Matt. 16)
